Question:
if you ate pasta and anti-pasta, would you still be hunrgy?
Portofino (Xiamen
Millennium Harbourview Hotel)--#1 in Xiamen.
Xiamen has over 40 "Italian" restaurants but only a handful
are authentic, and of those my favorite is the Millennium
Harbourview Hotel Xiamen's Portofino, which
is the closest thing you'll find to Sicily this side of the Mediterranean!
The Maseratti parked in front of the Millennium
belongs to the celebrated Chef Pippo (Giuseppe Messina), from Militello,
Italy. Chef Pippo, who has worked for several world-class restaurants
since beginning his career in 1980, has been Executive Italian Chef at
Portofino since 2001. And his taste for luxury is as evident in
his culinary creations as in his cars.
Chef Pippo's menu has an infinite selection--literally! He will
not only prepare the extensive selection of entrees and sauces in any
combination you desire but will also whip up, on the spot, just about
any dish you can think of. At Portofino you'll never
hear, "Sorry, not today. Don't have it. That's Tuesday's special..."
On the contrary, every time we visit Portofino, Chef Pippo reminds us,
"If there is anything you want special, tell me. I'll make
it!"
Whether you're planning a romantic evening for two, or a business meal,
Portofino's pasta, pizza, steaks, and more are the ticket. And Portofino
prices are very reasonable, especially given the quality of the fare,
and the ambience (Xiamen's first international hotel, the Millennium
Harbourview Hotel Xiamen was our home away from home in early days,
where we celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas, and even today has a soft
spot in our heart).
Give Chef Pippo a visit. And tell him that Bill Brown wants a ride
in his Maseratti!

Russo Gaetono¡¯s unusual but eminently edible creations in-clude a ¡°Mickey

the wrapped sea bass (which was actually stuffed).
They have an outlet at METRO, but would not recommend it...(basically
tastes like microwaved frozen entrees).

Pizza (M¨¤nh¨¡d¨´n B¨«s¨¤ Âü¹þ¶Ù±ÈÈø) In 1991, a young

Chinese-run Ital-ian pizza place was a big hit, and she returned to Xi¨¤m¨¦n

The 24th floor Seaview Bldg. Pizza Hut, offers a spectacular panoramic

Try your hand at building the tallest salad in their one-trip-only salad
bowl. Chinese salad architects artfully enlarge the bowl with sliced cucumbers
and onions, cemented with salad dressing, to build a leaning tower of
pizza salad. Website: www.pizzahut.com.cn
